Achaleshwar Temple
Achaleshwar Temple is a Shiva temple in Gurdaspur District. It is an ancient temple located right opposite to Gurdwara Shri Achal Sahib at the edge of Salho and Chahal villages. This place is located so close to India – Pakistan border. The word 'Achaleshwar' represents a Sanskritic sandhi, which is derived from the Sanskrit terms 'Achal' meaning immovable and 'Ishwar' which means the Lord. It is an epithet of Lord Shiva. The temple is dedicated to Achaleshwar, and the main deity here is Lord Kartik, who is the son of Lord Shiva and Devi Parvati. As per the scripting on the temple, it is believed that the temple was built at an ancient age during the Satyuga period. A lot of people now visit the temple, especially during the time of festivities here. There is daily aarti in the temple, and apart from the devotees, a lot of tourists and heritage travelers also come to this place for its historical and heritage significance.
