Agnipureeswarar Temple

The Agnipureeswarar Temple is 126th in the series of Tevara Stalams in the Chola region, which covers areas south of the Kaveri River. The prime deity, Lord Shiva, is believed to have married Goddess Parvati at this temple. The temple has several inscriptions related to epics and kings of the Chola Dynasty. This temple located about 16kms from Kumbakonam town(Take the state highway to mayiladuthurai and detour to the poompuhar road just after Aduthurai town), in Kanjanoor houses the sukran Sannidhi and is among the 9 Navagraha Temples. Sooriyanar Kovil or the navagraha temple attributed to the Sun God is jsut a couple of Kms away.
