Government Archaeological Museum, Tirunelveli
Established in 1992, the Government museum at Palayamkottai exhibits objects of historical interest and all kinds of archaeological remaining. This multi purpose museum with a huge and realistic fibreglass Tyrannosaurus rex is located about 2kms from Thirunelveli on Thirunelveli- Thiruvananthapuram Road (NH7). The collections in the museum include ancient artifacts found in the areas surrounding the city, tamil inscriptions in palm leaves etc. The museum is rarely crowded and is opened from 8.30 am to 5.30 p.m.
