Keoladeo Ghana National Park

Keoladeo Ghana National Park is situated in the town of Bharatpur in eastern Rajasthan, approximately 50 kilometers west of Agra.Originally a natural depression formed by the confluence of the Gambhir and Banganga rivers, the area was converted into a bird sanctuary and hunting reserve during the British colonial era. It was later declared a national park in 1982.The park is famous for its rich avian diversity, particularly during the winter season when it becomes a haven for migratory birds from Central Asia, Siberia, and Europe. Over 370 species of birds have been recorded here, including the rare Siberian crane.Apart from birds, Keoladeo Ghana National Park is home to a variety of wildlife, including deer, wild boar, jackals, hyenas, and various species of reptiles and amphibians. The park is named after the Keoladeo Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, which is located within its boundaries. The temple dates back to ancient times and is a popular pilgrimage site.
