Lorpur Riyasat Kothi
The history of cities being settled on the banks of rivers is very old. The first poet has drawn a beautiful picture of the victory celebration of Lord Shri Ram by saying “Vi Tamsa Tamsa Saryu Taata”. It is obvious that Saryu, Ghaghra and Tamsa, which have been praised by the dedicated sages and saints and have come in a winding manner, have been irrigating the earth and giving nectar to the lives of the people and are still doing so. Ambedkar Nagar district, settled on the land irrigated by the gurgling waves of the holy rivers Saryu and Tamsa, has its own special identity from many points of view. Before the district came into existence, this land has seen many ups and downs.
Akbarpur is the headquarters of Ambedkar Nagar district which came into existence on 29 September 1995 after the then Chief Minister announced its creation in front of a packed crowd of Shiv Baba. This city is located at an altitude of 133 meters (436 feet) above sea level and at 26.431 degrees north latitude and 82.540 degrees east longitude. The total area of ??Ambedkar Nagar district, divided into five tehsils and ten blocks, is 2350 square km. According to the 2011 census, 23,97,888 (twenty-three lakh ninety-seven thousand eight hundred eighty-eight) people live here. Whose number has now increased to around 25 lakhs. There are a total of 1750 revenue villages in the district. Including them, a total of 930 gram panchayats, three municipalities and two nagar panchayats have been formed.
