Mandar Hill

Mandar Hill is a prominent tourist destination located in the Bhagalpur district of Bihar, India. It is situated approximately 30 kilometers from the town and is easily accessible by road. Mandar Hill is a geological marvel, characterized by its unique flat-topped hill formation, which is believed to be the result of volcanic activity millions of years ago. The hill is composed of basaltic rocks and stands at an elevation of around 700 feet above sea level.

Mandar Hill holds great religious significance in Hinduism and Jainism. According to Hindu mythology, it is believed to be the abode of gods during the churning of the ocean (Samudra Manthan) described in the ancient scriptures. The hill is also revered as the place where Lord Vishnu took the form of a tortoise (Kurma Avatar) to support the Mount Mandara during the churning.
