Mudagal Fort
Mudgal, located in Lingasgur Taluk, 10 miles south-west of Lingasugur, is one of the most important historical sites in the area, with Raichur being the next most important. Mudgal, also known as Mudugal, has a long history dating back to the Yadava dynasty, as evidenced by numerous inscriptions unearthed in and around town. It was an important outpost of the Kakatiya Empire in the beginning of the 14th century. Following the defeat of the Bahmani dynasty and the absorption of the western and southern sections of the Bahmani Empire, Malik Naib seized Raichur and Mudgal castles, as well as Bijapur princes. The fort is the primary attraction of Mudgal. The advantage of a mound was taken advantage of in the construction of the castle at Mudgal, on top of which the walls were erected with royal houses and tribes. Mudgal’s outer stronghold is half a square mile in size.
