Muttupettai
Muttupettai, also known as Muthupettai, is an ideal tourist spot having large mangrove forests. These forests spread over an area of 120 sq km and are inhabited by diifferent species of flora and fauna. The reserved forests of Muttupettai are the best place for birdwatching as birds like tern, grey heron, flamingos and painted stork can be seen here. The birds can be seen near the Jambavanodai Lagoon, from spots like the visitor’s centre and the watchtower built by the state government. Very scenic place where we can enjoy nature. Boating here is fun and must try but a bit costly. Must visit place. Nice place to visit for a day's trip ....Beautiful mangrove forest stretches for miles ...as no restaurants are available better to carry food and surplus drinking water , during mid noon and afternoon heat will be blistering so when hiring a boat ,go for the one with over head canopy.....forest dept has made arrangement like watch-towers and resting sheds in some of the islands....video camera not allowed.
