Nagzira National Park
At Nagzira National Park, fresh air, scenic beauty, rich flora and fauna and numerous trekking routes will make your stress melt away in no time. This dazzling and thrilling animal empire was once lined by the Gond kings. Nagzira National Park is one of the discoverable wildlife sanctuary. The origin of the name came from a Nag temple sited at the center of the sanctuary and the temple of Mahadeo. The origin of ‘Zira’ (zara) in Marathi means a lasting source of water that ooze out from a valley in Pongezara, Nagzira. Forests here are surrounded with hilly slopes, which create the formation of Gaikhuri Hills of the southern Satpura range.
Shelter for such wide range of wildlife like Indian wild boar, mouse deer, sambar deer, dholes, jungle cats, herbivores mammals, reptiles, bengal tiger, leopard, chitkul and much more. This wildlife sanctuary is also addressed as an outdoor museum to appreciate and explore nature. The wildlife sanctuary area is 116.54 sq km (45.00 sq m) was declared in 1970. Lately in 2012, the state government decided to bring together the sanctuary with additional national park to incorporate in the Tiger Project. Forests here are surrounded with hilly slopes, which create the formation of Gaikhuri Hills of the southern Satpura range.
