National Martyrs Memorial
The Hussainiwala National Martyrs' Memorial in memory of Indian freedom fighters Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru is located near the village of Hussainiwal in Ferozepur district near the India-Pakistan international border. This monument shows the place on the banks of the river Sutlej where Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru were cremated on 23-03-1931. He died in 1965 and was involved in the bombing of the Central Assembly along with Bhagat Singh.Mrs. Vidhya Vati, mother of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, was cremated at this place as per her wish. This martyrdom memorial was established in the year 1968.Hussainniwala is the site of the National Martyrs' Memorial, which marks the location whereBhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru were cremated on 23 March 1931. It is also the cremation place of Batukeshwar Dutt, who was also involved in bombing the Central Legislative Assembly with Singh, and that of Singh's mother, Vidyawati. After the Partition of India, the cremation spot became a part of Pakistan but on 17 January 1961 it was returned to India in exchange for 12 villages near the Sulemanki Headworks.
