Omkareshwar Mandhata

Omkareshwar or Mandhata is a town in the Khandwa district (east nimar) of Madhya Pradesh state in India. The official name of the city is Mandhata, but one of the twelve Jyotirlingas Omkareshwar is situated here, hence it is also known as Omkareshwar. It is a very beautiful city which is situated on both the banks of river Narmada.

The importance of Omkareshwar is also propounded in the Puranas. All the Puranas, Shastras, and Vedas have been started with the word Om. Om is the beginning of this world, and the end is also Om. The city has countless ancient temples and many philosophical sites.

 The city is divided into three regions, Shivpuri, Brahmapuri, and Vishnupuri. Shivpuri or omkar parwat is the oldest place, Omkar Parwat is situated here. There are many ancient temples and places here.
