Ramgarh is a secluded quaint hill station near Nainital which offers visitors the opportunity to walk amidst orchards loaded with sweet fruits. Also known as the ‘Fruit Bowl of Kumaon’, Ramgarh is a destination for those who are looking for a refuge from urban whirl. The small village is divided into two parts viz-a-viz Malla (upper) and Talla (lower) Ramgarh, which is home to a variety of orchards. You can find a plethora of orchards here amongst which the top ones include apricots, peaches, apples, plums and pears. These tasty and luscious fruits are supplied from here to across the country.

Ramgarh orchards also have a variety of malta, lime, gooseberry and strawberry plantations where the famous Ramgarh jam is prepared. In its essence, Ramagarh is a haven for those looking for some time to live their lives in seclusion. An evening walk in these orchards would fill your soul with the fruitful aroma and make you feel relaxed.This is not all that Ramgarh offers, as it also provides an unobstructed view of the snow-covered Himalayas. The small village also preserves the ruins of Rabindranath Tagore’s house where he took inspiration and produced one of his greatest works, Gitanjali. The Hindi poet Mahadevi Verma’s house is also nearby and visitors can take a look at her life’s works at the house, which has been converted into a museum.What is better than visiting the various destinations around is an orchard stay. Ramgarh is accessible throughout the year, but it is advisable to go there during late May and mid-June when the harvest season is ongoing and you can enjoy a memorable stay. During your getaway, you can interact with the locals who would be happy to hand you an apricot or peach freshly plucked from a tree. Besides the orchards near Nainital, Ramgarh also offers various trekking options where you can admire the beautiful view of the mountains and walk through the forests covered with oak and pine trees.
