Safa Masjid

Safa Masjid is an ancient mosque in Karnataka. It is located within the premises of Belgaum Fort, a key tourist destination in the state. Constructed in the year 1519 by Asad Khan Lari, Safa Masjid is an enticing structure of the previous era. This mosque is known for its architecture. The entire structure is an amalgam of the Indo-Saracenic & Deccan style of architecture. It has walls that boast the labyrinthine carvings

 Due to its construction with the fusion of the Indo-Saracenic & Deccan style of architecture, it has two pillars in the mosque that belong to the Hindu temples

 These pillars are carved in a meticulous manner and carry the inscriptions in The kannada language. One pillar dates back to 1199 A.D when Ratta clan was in the power, whereas, the other dates back to 1261 A.D during the rule of Sevuna Yadav clan

The main doors of the mosque are carved with the exquisite floral designs

 This mosque also has a pillared hall with numerous plastered pillars. These pillars in Safa Mosque have inscriptions and engravings in the Persian language
