Seth Bhandashah Jain Temple

Located in Bikaner, Rajasthan, the Bhandasar Jain Temple is a true gem showcasing the exquisite Jain architecture and artistry. Commissioned in 1468 by the wealthy Jain merchant, Bhandasa Oswal, this three-storied temple is dedicated to the fifth Tirthankara, Sumatinath. As you step inside, you'll be greeted by a riot of colors with vibrant paintings, intricate wall paintings depicting the lives of the 24 tirthankars, and yellow-stone carvings that adorn the interior.

One of the most fascinating aspects of the temple is its unique foundation made of a blend of ghee and limestone, known locally as "Ghee Kund." This innovative choice was made to combat the harsh desert climate and ensure the temple's durability, showcasing the meticulous attention to detail and cultural significance ingrained in its construction.

Visitors can wander through the temple's stunning pillars adorned with floral arabesques, admire the beautiful architecture, and climb to the top floor to enjoy panoramic views of the city. The red sandstone structure, divided into three floors, is decorated with mirror work, frescoes, and leaf paintings, adding to the temple's charm and historical richness.
