Shergarh Sanctuary
The perfect destination for nature lovers, Shergarh sanctuary is located in Shergarh village, about 65 km from Baran district. Rich in flora and fauna, Shergarh sanctuary is home to several endangered species of plants, as well as tigers, sloth bears, leopards and wild boards, among other animals. A photographer’s delight, Shergarh sanctuary is easily accessible by road.
- Shergarh Fort: An ancient fort dating back to 790 AD, Shergarh Fort is a pilgrimage site known for its Jain and Brahmanical temples. The presence of the Parban River adds to the attraction of this historic fort.
- Sitabari: Believed to be the birthplace of Lord Rama's sons, Lava and Kusa, during Goddess Sita's exile, Sitabari features a temple dedicated to Goddess Sita Devi. The area also boasts several water wells (kunds) near the temple premises.
- Brahmani Mataji Temple: Located in an old palace in Sorsan Village, this temple holds special importance due to the continuous burning of a Jyothi (lamp) for over 400 years (Akhanda Jyothi).
- Shahabad Fort: Situated on a hilltop within the forest, Shahabad Fort dates back to the 15th century and was once owned by Rajput kings. It is renowned for its historical significance and strength among the forts in the Hadoti region, and there are also a few temples nearby.
