Sitabuldi Fort

Over two centuries old, Sitabuldi Fort is a popular tourist attraction that one must explore while in Nagpur. This fort holds historical as well as architectural significance. Built in the year 1817 between two hillocks, it is currently the home to the Indian Army’s 118th infantry battalion. Adjacent to the fort there is a palace that adds charm to the whole setting. You can see the graves of soldiers killed rain the Third Anglo-Maratha war and a prison where Mahatma Gandhi was locked up. Due to security reasons, this fort is open to public only on three days of the year i.e. 26th January, 1st May (Maharashtra Day), and 15th August. If you are lucky enough to be in Nagpur on either of these days with your friends and family, make sure to pay a visit to this magnificent fort. Though you may not be allowed to take your cameras, mobile phones, and other belongings inside, the history of the place will imprint itself on your mind forever.
