Sri Mahaganapathi Temple

 

This temple is one of the famous pilgrimage spots in Kollam, popular among worshipers as the center of spirituality and devotion. Though the presiding deity of the temple is Lord Siva, this temple is famous as Lord Ganapathy temple situated in Kottarakkara at a distance of 25 Kms from Kollam. The temple is famous for Kottarakkara Unniappam, a rare sweet offered as Prasadam. The architecture of this centuries-old temple attracts most of the tourists admiring its charming design. The most interesting fact about this temple, where the family of shiva resides is that, even non-Hindus are allowed to visit here.
