Sri Nath Baba Mandir

Shrinathji is a seven year old manifestation of Lord Krishna. Shrinathji is a form of the Hindu god Krishna who appears as a seven year old child (Balak). Shrinathji's main temple is located in the temple town of Nathdwara , 49 km northeast of Udaipur city in Rajasthan . Shrinathji is the central presiding deity of the Vaishnavite sect known as Pushtimarg (path of grace) or Vallabh Sampradaya founded by Vallabhacharya . Shrinathji is worshipped mainly by followers of Bhakti Yoga and by Vaishnavs and Bhatias and others in Gujarat and Rajasthan.

Vallabhacharya's son Vithalnathji  institutionalised the worship of Shrinathji in Nathdwara. Due to the popularity of Shrinathji, the town of Nathdwara is known as 'Shrinathji'. People also call it Bava's (Shrinathji Bava) Nagari. Initially, the child Krishna form was referred to as Devdaman (conqueror of gods - referring to the over-power of Indra in Krishna's lifting of Govardhan hill ). Vallabhacharya named him Gopal and named the place of his worship 'Gopalpur'. Later, Vithalnathji named him Shrinathji. Shrinathji's seva is performed in 8 parts of the day. The idol of Shri Nathji was brought from Vrindavan to Rajasthan by Govindji and Damodarji.
