Tawang War Memorial
Amidst the beautiful landscape of Tawang stands a solemn and historic site: the Tawang War Memorial. This stupa stands as a poignant testament to the brave Indian soldiers who laid down their lives during the 1962 Indo-China War. The imposing structure is adorned with names of the martyrs, their regiments, and inscriptions honouring their sacrifice.
Standing before the memorial, you will be transported back in time, understanding the courage and resilience of those who fought for their motherland. Surrounding the stupa are several flags flying high, including the National Flag, the Army Flag, the Air Force Flag, as well as the flags of the 27 other regiments that fought in the war. The memorial was built in memory of the 2,420 members of the armed forces who laid down their lives in the Kameng district during the war.
