The Hazrat Tipu Sultan's Tomb
Located in Srirangapatnam Tombs of Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan is a site worth visiting. It is situated at a distance of 15 km from Mysore. Built in 1784 AD by Tipu Sultan for his parents, he was also buried here in 1799 AD. With a height of about 20 meters, this structure stands majestically. Along with being historically important, these tombs also boast of excellent architecture. The architecture, which looks similar to that of Golconda tombs, captivates every visitor with its intricate designs and majestic structure.
Architecture of Gumbaz
Built in Persian style of architecture, Gumbaz captivates everyone. Surrounded by beautiful garden named as Lalbagh Garden, the imposing structure of Gumbaz is seen in the middle on an elevated platform. The platform has an open veranda which is dotted with pillars made up of black granite. These majestic pillars provide support to the structure. These polished pillars add on to the overall beauty of these vast domes. The ivory decorated doors of the domes and the intricately carved stone windows showcase the hard-work and brilliant craftsmanship which has gone into creating this masterpiece. The walls have been painted in tiger stripes, which is popularly associated with Tipu Sultan.
