Annamalai University

Annamalai University is a state university located in Annamalai Nagar,Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu, India. The university is spread across 950 acres (3.8 km2) in Chidambaram and offers courses of higher education in science, engineering, Management (MBA), humanities, agriculture and arts. The university also provides more than 500 courses through distance education. Bhuvaraha Temple

BhuVaraha Swamy temple is a Hindu temple, located at Srimushnam, Cuddalore district. Constructed in the Dravidian style of architecture. the temple is dedicated to Varaha (Bhu Varaha Swamy), the boar-avatar of the god Vishnu and his consort Lakshmi as Ambujavalli Thayar. Six daily rituals and three yearly festivals are held at the temple, of which the Chariot festival, celebrated during the Tamil month of Vaikasi (April–May), being the most prominent. There are two gopurams in the temple and two precincts enclosed within large granite walls and there is a small image of Srinavasa Perumal (Vishnu) on the upper portion of the inner side of the tower.

Devaanathaswamy Temple

Devanathaswamy temple located in Thiruvanthipuram, a village in the outskirts of Cuddalore in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu, is dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu. Constructed in the Dravidian style of architecture, the temple is glorified in the Divya Prabandha, the early medieval Tamil canon of the Azhwar saints from the 6th–9th centuries AD. It is one of the 108 Divyadesam dedicated to Vishnu, who is worshipped as Devanathaswamy and his consort Lakshmi as Hemabhujavalli. The major festival, the twelve-day Brahmotsavam is celebrated during the Tamil month of Chittirai (April - May). Masi Mahotsavam is another ten-day festival during the Tamil month of Masi (February - March). During the festival, the festival image is taken in procession to the seashore in Cuddalore. One of the best place to visit in Cuddalore district.

Fort St David

Fort St David is located in Cuddalore district, It is located near silver beach. Fort St David, situated on the mouth of River Gadilam, has a memorable history. The region was under the domains of the Nayaks of Gingee. The ruins of Fort St David situated on the river Gadilam has as memorable history. It was named for the patron saint of Wales because the governor of Madras at the time, Elihu Yale, was Welsh. The British had purchased this fort from the Marathas and it was their headquarters for several years. The fort was under the governorship of Robert Clive.

Kolanjiappar Temple

Kolanjiappar temple in Manavalanallur, a village in the outskirts of Virudhachalam in Cuddalore district in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu, is dedicated to the Hidhu god murugan. This temple is located in the Virudhachalam - Manavalanallur Road. The temple has a five-tiered gateway tower, the gopuram, leading to a pillared hall and the sanctum. The temple is open from 6:30 am – 8:30 pm. The major festivals of the temple include the Panguni Uthiram festival celebrated during the Tamil month of Panguni (March - April), ten day Vasantha Utsavam during Vaikasi (May- June) and Adi festival. During the Panguni Uthiram, the flag hoisting is done on the first day, while the presiding deities of the temple are taken in a chariot round the streets of the temple. During Adi festival, hundreds of devotees carry pots of milk and Kavadi around the streets of the temple, which is followed by a feast attended by close to 5,000 people.

Lignite Mines

It is 45 kms from Cuddalore. They are biggest open mines. The Lignite mines here supply the fuel required for two Thermal Power Stations here at Neyveli. Apart from fertilizer and coal, there are units manufacturing bye-products from the Lignite. The lignite is used at pithead thermal power stations of 3640 MW installed capacity to produce electricity. Its joint venture has a 1000 MW thermal power station using coal. Padaleeswarar Temple

Pichavaram Lake

The Pitchavaram Lake is located at a distance of about 14 km from Chidambaram. The Pitchavaram Lake is sprawling with mangrove. The mangrove forest found in this lake is one of the largest in the world. There are numerous islands interspersed in the water which is home to hundreds of species of birds that include local as well as migratory. Samiyarpettai Beach

Samiyarpettai is a village on the Indian east coast about 50 kilometres (31 mi) south of Pondicherry and 210 kilometres (130 mi) south of Chennai, located on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal. Sathyagnana Sabha

Satyagnana Sabha is a temple constructed by the Saivite saint Sri Raamalinga Swaamigal (Vallalaar) in the town of Vadalur in Cuddalore district,Tamil Nadu, India. Sri Ragavendra Swamy Temple

Raghavendra Swamy Mutt is a Hindu religious mutt located at Srimushnam, in Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu. Raghavendra Swamy is by far one of the most popular Madhwa saints. Sri Veera Anjaneyar Temple

Sri Veera Anjaneya temple is located in Thirupathippuliyur, Cuddalore. The Lord Veera Anjaneya temple started drawing large devotees. Devotees started contributing and the temple was developed in bits and pieces. An undivided family owned the land on which the temple stood. Every month on the new moon day the 'uthsava moorti' of Lord Veera Anjaneya is taken in procession around the temple. Thillai Kali Temple

Thillai Kali Temple is a Hindu Temple located on the outskirts of the town of Chidambaram, Cuddalore DistrictTamil Nadu in India. This Temple is on the outskirts of the city of Chidambaram. Legend says that Goddess Kaali Devi moved here after losing to Lord Siva in the celestial dance contest. It was an argument that who is superior, either ‘Sivam’ (Lord Siva) or Shakthi (Parvathi). Veeranam Lake

Veeranam Lake (Veeranarayanapuram Lake) is located 14 km (8.7 mi) SSW of Nattarmangalam in Cuddalore district in the state of Tamil Nadu. Veeranam lake gets water from Kollidam via Vadavaru River. Veerateeswarar Temple

Thiruvathigai Veerateeswarar Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva. It is situated in Thiruvathigai village which is about 2 kilometres east from the town of Panruti in Cuddalore. Vriddhagiriswarar Temple

The Vriddhagiriswarar Temple is a Hindu temple in the town of Vriddhachalam, Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu. The ancient Chola temple of Vriddhagiriswarar was commissioned by Sembiyan Mahadevi, among the most powerful queens of the Chola empire and an ardent worshipper of Lord Siva. Wellington Lake

Wellington Lake is a lake situated in the Keelachiruvoi Village,(Near Ivanur) Tittakudi taluk of the Cuddalore district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is the second-largest lake in Cuddalore after the Veeranam Lake, which also is situated in the Cuddalore district. It is primarily a rain-fed lake, while its main tributary is the Vellar River that originates from the Shevaroy Hills. Smaller creeks that originate from the Nangoor reserve forest and the Lakkur reserve forest form the secondary tributaries. The Wellington Lake also has about 27 ancillary lakes and together they form the primary source of irrigation for nearly 25,000 acres (10,000 hectares) of land and over 67 villages dependent on it for cultivation. The lake is also a noted trout fishery and home to a small-scale inland fishing industry.
