Thiruvattar Adhi Kesava Temple
The Adikesavaperumal Temple is situated in Thiruvattar, Kanyakumari District, Tamil Nadu. One of the 108 divya desams devoted to Vishnu, this temple is also referred to as the Srirangam of Chera Kingdom. Surrounded by rivers Kothai, Pahrali and Thamirabarani on three sides, Vishnu rests in this temple in a reclining position on this sacred land. It is believed that Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, founder of the Gaudiya Vaishnava movement, rediscovered the historic Brahma Samhita here. This temple is also known for being one of the 13 ancient divya desams of Malai Nadu. Vaikunta Ekadasi is the main festival celebrated here.

Gandhi Mandapam
Amongst its scenic beaches and majestic churches, Kanyakumari also boasts of being home to a large memorial that is dedicated to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. This memorial, which was built to honour this eminent personality, is located in the same spot where the urn of the ashes of this renowned individual was kept for the public to pay their homage. After the leader's death, his ashes were divided into 12 different urns and were scattered throughout the country for the general public to pay their last respect to this important figure. Kanyakumari was one of them. Gandhi has close connections with Kanyakumari, and perhaps these associations rendered it necessary to construct a memorial in his memory in this place. Mahatma Gandhi visited Kanyakumari twice in his lifetime, once in 1925 and then later on in 1937. After his tragic assassination in January 1948, when his body was cremated, his ashes were brought to Kanyakumari to be immersed in the Triveni Sea on February 12, 1948. Inside the Gandhi Mandapam, visitors can witness a myriad of photographs of Gandhi, which were taken at different points in his life, and also his pictures with other famous personalities. The responsibility of this memorial was transferred to the administrative control of the Public (Information and Public Relations) Department, from the Public Works Department of Government of Tamil Nadu in the year 1978, and one must say that the memorial is quite well maintained. Located close to the Kumari Amman Temple, the Gandhi Memorial is a must visit tourist spot in Kanyakumari, and is especially loved by patriots and followers of the Gandhian philosophy.

Kanyakumari Beach
Located in the southernmost part of India, Kanyakumari beach with its beautiful hue-changing beaches, the confluence of three water bodies: Bay of Bengal, Indian Ocean, and the Arabian Sea. Miraculously, here you can see that the water of three seas does not mix, you can distinguish between the turquoise blue, deep blue, and sea green waters of the three seas, though the colors keep changing with the season and the day's weather. Mathur Aqueduct
Also known as the Mathoor Hanging Trough, the Mathoor Aqueduct is located in the Vilavancode Taluk of the Kanyakumari District in Tamil Nadu. This one-kilometre long trough is amongst the longest and tallest trough bridges that can be found all across the continent, and this grand aqueduct was constructed in 1966 over the Parazhiyar River to facilitate the agricultural development of the area. This trough bridge gets its name from Mathoor, which is a small village located near the aqueduct. 28 colossal pillars support the weight of the mighty structure, which carries water for irrigation from the Pattanamkal Canal from one side of the hill to another. The Mathoor Aqueduct has been constructed in such a fashion that it is divided into two parts, one of which is the trough canal and the other is a road. The trough is 7.5 feet wide and 7 feet high and is partly covered with concrete slabs on its top. As the aqueduct began to gain popularity and a lot of people started to visit it, a flight of stairs was also built here to enable the tourists to reach the bridge quickly. A children's park and several bathing platforms have also been developed in the area, which means that people from all age groups can have a lovely time at the Mathoor Aqueduct and enjoy themselves.

Mondaicaud Bhagavathi Temple
Mandaikadu Bhagavathi Temple, previously Mondaicaud Bhagavathi Temple, is a renowned temple near Colachel in Kanyakumari District, Tamil Nadu. Built in Kerala's traditional temple architectural-style, it lies near the seashore. A unique feature of this temple is its' presiding deity - an ant hill with five heads, standing at a tall 15 feet. Our lady of Ransom Church
Our Lady of Ransom Church is a famous Catholic Church that is located in the Kanyakumari District of Tamil Nadu and was built in dedication to Mother Mary. A brilliant example of Gothic architecture, the church was built during the 15th century and looks breathtakingly beautiful against the blue lashing waves of the ocean behind it. The gold cross on the central tower of the church further adds beauty and charm to this magnificent structure, and its beauty and tranquillity are what attract people the most. Our Lady of Ransom is the Patron of the congregation in Spain, which had long ago redeemed the Christians from Muslim invasions in 1218. The people of Kanyakumari combined the name Ransom with Delight and began to call their patron by the name of Alangara Upakara Matha. It is in her honour that this splendid church has been built. The colourfully stained windows of the church throw multi-hued lights inside the main building, and the three white spires of the primary structure rise up to the sky. The church is in its full splendour in evenings and at night, when it gets lit up. What enthrals people the most is the statue of Virgin Mary, clad in a sari, at the altar. Sothavilai Beach
The Sotha Vilai Beach is one of the most famous beaches that can be found in the entire district of Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu. This beach is an offbeat attraction, which means that many people do not know about it, but the beach does deserve more attention than what it gets. The glorious beach stretches for over 4 kilometres, which makes it one of the longest natural beaches in the entire state, and the views that this attraction offers cannot be put into words. St.Xaviers Church
Built by St Francis Xavier in the 1600s, the St. Xavier Church is a famous historical structure of great religious importance that is located in Kottar of Nagercoil. This Roman Catholic, Latin Rite shrine, is dedicated to Mary, who is the Mother of God. The church enjoys great fame and respect, on account of the fact that miracles have been observed to happen here since times immemorial. The spirituality, power and divinity of the church attract people of all faiths from all parts of the world, and it is not uncommon to see even Hindus pouring oil, praying and making vows here. Thousands and thousands of Catholic pilgrims from as far as British India, Ceylon and Malacca visit the annual festival at the St. Xavier church every year in December to seek blessings from the Lord, and it continues to assert its authority as a supreme abode of the Almighty. The builder of this magnificent church, St Francis Xavier, was a dedicated and exceptional priest who belonged to Goa, but frequently visited Kottar in the district of Kanyakumari, since Kottar was a famous commercial centre in those days. He was popularly known as 'Valiya Pandaram' among the masses, and according to historical accounts, he played an instrumental role in preventing the Padagas from invading Travancore. Pleased, the king granted St. Xavier with a plot at Kottar to construct a Catholic Church, on the land which already housed a church. St Francis Xavier then built another church on the same site, adjacent to the existing Church of St. Mary.

Thanumalayan Temple
Situated in Suchindram, Thanumalay temple is also known as Sthanumalayan Kovil is the sacred shrine dedicated to Trimuthis (Bramha, Vishnu and Shiva). The beautiful temple was renovated in the 17th century, and its inscriptions date back to the 9th century. This beautiful temple represents great architectural magnificence. One of the major highlights of this temple is the four musical pillars carved out of a single stone placed in the alankara mandapam area. Thiruvalluvar Statue
Dedicated to the accomplished philosopher and poet Thiruvalluvar, this beautiful statue finds itself on a small island near Kanyakumari. Thiruvalluvar was the author of a legendary work in the world of Literature, Tirukkural, the classic Tamil text. In his devotion, the work for the statue started in 1990 and continued till 1999, during the year in which the figure finally got completed. This monument stands tall at a mighty height of 133 feet and is perched upon a 38-foot pedestal. The pedestal's height represents the 38 chapters of virtue in Thirukkural. Full of symbolism and cultural significance, this destination is awe-inspiring, and a must-visit. V. Ganapati Sthapati sculpted the statue, and it was unveiled on January 1, 2000. Tsunami Memorial Park
A one of its kind structure, the Tsunami Monument is a unique monument that is located near the southern shore of Kanyakumari. It was built in the memory of all those thousands of people who died in the Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami that shook the entire nation on 26 December in 2004. This natural disaster claimed around 2,80,000 lives not only in India but also in Sri Lanka, Somalia, Thailand, Maldives and Indonesia, and people from near and far come to visit this monument to pay their respect to the dear departed. Designed and built by the architect B. Kanagaraj Cangan, this sixteen-foot memorial is uniquely coloured and stands as a grim reminder of the transience of human life. The structure features two hands: one of which is holding back a gigantic blue wave, while the other hand is holding a lamp of hope, representing optimism in the face of disaster. The plaque just below this steel structure records the date and importance of this serious monument. Just near the primary structure, one can also find a few works of modern sculpture that are scattered in a small but well-maintained garden. A stroll through this area fills the visitor with absolute calmness and stillness. Even though it reminds them that nature ultimately prevails and conquers all, it also helps one to appreciate the value of human life and how precious it is.

Vattakottai Fort
Vattakottai Fort, which translates to the 'Circular Fort' is a seaside fort near Kanyakumari, the southernmost tip of India. Vivekananda Memorial
The magnificent Vivekananda Rock Memorial is located on a small island off Kanyakumari. It has the picturesque Indian Ocean in its backdrop. It is situated on one of the two adjacent rocks projecting out of the Lakshadweep Sea and comprises of the 'Shripada Mandapam' and the 'Vivekananda Mandapam'.Vivekananda Rock Memorial is located at about 500 meters east of the mainland of Vavathurai in Kanyakumari and can be accessed by regular ferries. This statue was built in the year 1970 on the island situated in Vavathurai, built on the site where Vivekananda attained enlightenment. The Shripada Mandapam has a study hall and a museum, where you can explore Vivekananda's life and work in depth.
