Avalanche Lake
Avalanche Lake is located 28 kilometers from Ooty in the Nilgiris district in Tamil Nadu. Avalanchi Lake is an important tourism destination in the Nilgiris district. Bellikkal Lake
Bellikkal lake is Located in Bellikkal, Nilgiri Mountain Range in Tamil Nadu, Bellikkal is slowly being patronized by honeymooners since it is high on scenic splendour and provides privacy. Bison Valley
Bison valley, located in Bellikkal, Nilgiris district, 26km away from Ooty is a tourist destination where one can spend peaceful days enjoying the beauty of the nature. Botanical Garden

Catherine Falls
Catherine Falls is a double-cascaded waterfall located near kotagiri town, Nilgiris district. It is also a major tourist spot in kotagiri, located on the mettupalayam road. This water fall has both lower and upper falls. The upper fall drops to the floor, and is the second highest in the Nilgiris mountains. Catherine falls is named after the wife of M.D. Cockburn, believed to have introduced the coffee plantation to kotagiri. The local people call the waterfall as the Geddhehaada Halla which means the ‘Foothills of the Dale River’. These cascading falls are surrounded by beautiful views of forest, the falls are clearly visible from the top of Dolphin’s Nose and this is the only place where you can get to full view of the falls.

Doddabetta Peak
Doddabetta is the highest Peak in the Tamil Nadu and is about 10 kms. from Ooty bus stand. This means a Big Mountain, is the highest peak located at 2634 meters in the Nilgiris. It is 10 Kms drive from Udhagamandalam Bus Terminus. It is at the meeting point of Western and Eastern Ghats and offer beautiful Vistas of the Nilgiri Hill ranges. It is surrounded by dense Sholas. There is an observatory at the top of Doddabetta with two telescopes available for the public. The Telescope house set up by the Tourism Department helps the visitors to view the entire district from this point. The Sunset is spectacular from this view point. It was one of the amazing place to visit in Nilgiris district.

Kalhatti Falls

Kodanad Viewpoint
Kodanad View point is a tourist spot near Kotagiri town, Nilgiri District. It is located about 18 km east of Kotagiri on the eastern edges of Nilgiris. Longwood Shola
Longwood is located in the Nilgiri district mountains. Longwood Shola is located near Kothagiri town (about 50 km from Coimbatore), located at an elevated level close to the junction of Eastern and Western Ghats. Sholas are the local name for patches of stunted tropical montane forest found in valleys amid rolling grassland in the higher montane regions of South India. The conservation effort of the local people at Longwood Shola can best be understood in the context of the rapid rate of forest destruction that is taking place though most of the Nilgiris, mainly for extraction for fuelwood or conversion into plantations. The ground is usually covered with high humus content and leaf litter. Their expanse is restricted by the extreme climatic conditions of frost in the morning and strong sun during the day.

Mayar River
The Mayar River is one of the tributaries of the Bhavani in Tamil Nadu, South India. The Mayar river originates from a small town called Mayar off the Masinagudi–Ooty road, Nilgiris district. This is a natural line of separation between the state of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and a separation between the forest of Bandipur National Park and the Mudumalai sanctuary to the south. Mudumalai Tiger Reserve
The Mudumalai National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary also a declared tiger reserve, lies on the northwestern side of the Nilgiri Hills (Blue Mountains), in Nilgiri District. Mukurthi Peak

Neelakurinji Blooms
Kurinji or neelakurinji, is a shrub that is found in the shola forests of the Western Ghats in South India. Nilgiri Hills, which literally means the blue mountains, got their name from the purplish blue flowers of Neelakurinji that blossoms only once in 12 years. This plant flowers during September-October. The year 2006 was when the Neelakurinji last bloomed in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, after a span of 12 years. The festival on Kurinji has been planned for this month. The famous Kurinji Andavar Temple in Kodaikanal, is named after Kurinji, that carpets the region every 12 years.

Nilgiri Mountain Railway
The Nilgiri Mountain Railway (NMR) is a 1,000 mm (3 ft 3 3⁄8 in) metre gauge railway in Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu. The Nilgiri Mountain Railway runs from Mettupalayam to Udagamandalam (Ooty), via Coonoor, in the Nilgiri Hills of Tamil Nadu. It's the only meter gauge, rack railway in India. The railway relies on its fleet of steam locomotives. NMR switched to diesel locomotives on the section between Coonoor and Udhagamandalam. Local people and visitors led a campaign to return to steam locomotives in this section. One of the interesting place to visit in Nilgiris district. Ooty Lake
Ooty lake is also called as ooty boat house is located in Ooty in the Nilgiris district and 1 km from ooty bus stand. Pykara River
Pykara river is the largest river and is located about 21 kms from the city on the Ooty-Mysore road in the Niligiri district. The area around the lake is surrounded by sholas (local name for forest) that adds to its natural beauty. The river falls down from two different heights towards the end, one from 55 metres and the other from 61 metres. These two falls are known as Pykara falls and are located at a distance of 1.5 kms away from the lake. The place is a popular picnic spot among locals as well as tourists. Rangaswamy Peak And Pillar
Rangaswamy Peak and Pillar is suited near Kotagiri near ooty hill station in Nilgiris district. Rangaswamy Peak and Pillar is one of the famous tourist spot in Nilgiris district.
