BELA DEVI

Raja Pratap Bhahadur Singh of Awadh constructed the present main temple of Shri Belha Devi, which is situated on the bank of Sai river in District Pratapgarh, during the period 1811–15.

This temple had the patronage of Awadh State. The raja of Pratapgarh appointed pujari as "Pujari Name" of this temple whose duty was to worship the deity of the temple. After the merger of princely State into district these pujaris became independent on the matter of controlling and managing the affairs of the temple and the land attached to the temple. They are maintaining this temple and providing necessary facilities to the visiting devotees and thus the condition of the temple progressed day by day. So much so that there were proper arrangements for pilgrims visiting the temple during Navaratra melas.

BHAKTI DHAM

Throughout the ages, souls have been able to achieve the true path of Happiness with the help of their ‘Guru’.  The Guru is a Divine personality who removes our ignorance by giving us the knowledge of God (Brahm), the Soul (Jeev) and the World (Maya).  We then practice His teachings so that we can attain eternal happiness and our suffering ends, once and for all.  The tradition of Jagadguru has been in place since the beginning of time so that the souls of the world can identify a personality that is capable of sharing this divine knowledge in the right way.  Even if we already have a Guru, we can still study from Jagadguruttam (Original Jagadguru) and practice His teachings.

The couple did not have a child because of which Sudeha was sad. Sudeha prayed and tried all possible remedies but in vain. Frustrated of being childless, Sudeha got her sister Ghushma married to her husband. On the advice of her sister, Ghushma used to make 101 lingas, worship them and discharge them in the nearby lake. With the blessings of Lord Shiva, Ghushma gave birth to a baby boy. Because of this, Ghushma became proud and Sudeha started feeling jealous towards her sister. Out of jealously, one night she killed Ghushma son and threw him in the lake where Ghushma used to discharge the lingas. Next morning, Ghushmas and Sudharm got involved in daily prayers and ablutions.
