Siva Dol

A major tourist attraction in the state of Assam is Shiva Dol. Located in the Sivasagar district, this place happens to be one of the most famous pilgrimage spots in the country as well. Shiva Dol is the tallest Shiva temple in the entire Northeast India. It is the highest temple in the country as well with a height of 104 feet. The Vishnu Dol and Devi Dol are other two small temples surrounding this tall temple and are dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Durga. These temples are situated on the banks of the famous Sibsagar Lake which is more than 200 years old.

Talatal Ghar

A seven storied palace having three storeys underground known as Talatal Ghar and upper storeys known as Kareng Ghar is the largest of all Tai-Ahom monuments which was built in the reign of Swargadeo Rajeswar Singha in the year 1765 A.D. It was the seat of Royal Court cum Administrative Office as well as Strategic Military Headquarter of Ahom Kingdom. It had three stories underground and four storeyed above the earthen surface. 


The Talatal Ghar was initially built as an army base. It houses two secret tunnels, and three floors below ground level which were used as exit routes during the Ahom conflicts with other kingdoms. This is made of brick and an indigenous type of cement The Talatal Ghar had two secret tunnels.

Rang Ghar

Often referred to as the 'Colosseum of the East', Rang Ghar is one of the oldest surviving amphitheatres in Asia. It is located near Rangpur Palace at a distance of 3 km from Sibsagar or Sivasagar town. The name translates to 'House of Entertainment' and dates back to 1746 A.D. when the Ahoms used to rule present-day Assam. This monument is an important edifice reflecting the architectural precision and grandeur of that time.

Digboi

Digboi Oil Refinery was set up at Digboi in 1901 by Assam Oil Company Ltd. The Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOC) took over the refinery and marketing management of Assam Oil Company Ltd. with effect from 1981 and created a separate division. This division has both refinery and marketing operations. The refinery at Digboi had an installed capacity 0.5 million tonnes per year. The refining capacity of the refinery was increased to 0.65 million tonnes per year by modernization of refinery in July, 1996. A new delayed Coking Unit of 170,000 tonnes per year capacity was commissioned in 1999.
